In the first of our Meet the Team series, let us introduce you to our hire desk manager, Adam. We’ve asked Adam to tell us about himself and his role, giving you a little bit of insight into what he does in the construction industry and why he does it.
Tell us a little about yourself and your role
I’m Adam, I am the hire desk manager and look after the runnings of the team in all aspects including sales, operations and services. I also sometimes act as Google and Google Maps for my coworkers and some clients!
What do you like doing outside of work?
Socialising with friends and family, playing golf, and helping my mate with general farm work and wood chopping (I’m a master chopper with the nickname ‘The Beast’ thanks to my chopping skills).
How long have you worked at Rockthorn? If you’ve worked other roles in the industry, what were they?
I have worked for Rockthorn since January 2022. Previously, I was employed at the AF Group, which was agricultural machinery, and Nationwide Platforms/EPL Skylifts, which was powered access (booms, scissors, spiders and truck mount platforms).
What made you interested in your current role?
The chance to work and learn from Stuart Curtis (MD). Also, the opportunity of a new challenge and developing my skills in running a team and a successful procurement company.
What do you enjoy about your job?
Everything. Customer service is key, and building relationships with customers and suppliers is paramount.
What is your favourite thing about your job?
The people at Rockthorn, they’re like an extended family.
Do any challenges come with your job? How do you combat them?
I think there will always be challenges in any job role, so it’s all about leading by example and finding a respectful solution that makes everyone happy.
Do you have any favourite moments from your time at Rockthorn?
For me, this could be anything, from one of our work social events to a particular project or client. I have many of these, however the one that sticks out most is when we moved to our larger office space. We are now on course to become a real name in the industry and with more space comes more people and a bigger workload; the more the better for me!
